This software is beta. I can accept no responsibility for anything it might do.

The program uses the 1 arc second ASTER data or 3 arc second SRTM data to plot a path profile, that is the height of the ground along the path from the transmitter to the receiver. You can save this data to a file for feeding into other packages.

To get it to work, put it in a directory along with the ASTER _dem.tif or SRTM .hgt files (e.g. ASTGTM_N48W005_dem.tif) for the region you are interested in. These files are available for download from NASA and are 1 degree tiles of the Earth . The file names represent the bottom left corner of the tile, so ASTGTM_N48W005_dem.tif covers 48N-49N degrees of Latitude and 5W-4W degrees of Longitude.

If you are in the UK, you probably want to download all the files between 50N and 60N and -10W to 2E. Each tile is 25Mbytes and you need 130 of them to cover the UK. It best to start off with only one or two local tiles. If they are zipped, DO NOT USE WINZIP to decompress them without first checking you have disabled the "smart" CR/LF substitution.
